Group HomesWhat is the Waterford Country School Group Home Program?
The Waterford Country School Group Homes provide structure and support with a focus on community living to males ages 9 to 12. What Does The Group Home Consist Of?The Waterford Country Group Home Program consists of two homes: The Norwich Group Home is a large house located in the outskirts of downtown Norwich. It consists of six beds, which provide each resident with their own room. It contains spacious common areas including a large living room, dining room, 4 staff offices and a fully equipped game room with amenities such as fitness equipment, a regulation size pool table, air hockey table and X-Box 360 video game system. Our Montville Group Home is located just down the road from our main campus in a rural setting. This large colonial consists of four bedrooms each with a different theme; from Spiderman to Sponge Bob the bedrooms are inviting and childlike. The common areas are spacious and fully equipped with recreational and educational toys and games that any young boy would enjoy. This home is designed for boys age 7 - 12. What Services Does the Group Home Offer?Each resident is assigned a “mentor” upon admission to guide them through their journey in the Group Home. The Home also provides Vocational and Educational skill building, Life Skills Groups, recreational opportunities, and community service activities. Who Can Receive Services From the Waterford Country School Group Home?Young men between the ages of 7 to 21 who are referred by the Department of Children and Families or the Juvenile Justice System are placed in our Group Homes. The Norwich home requires a moderate level of care for young men who are transitioning from residential treatment to independent living. The Montville Group Home is focused on providing intensive support for young boys in a communiy living setting. How Are The Group Home Program Services Accessed?Potential residents are referred by the Department of Children and Families and the Juvenile Justice System. What Additional Services Are Provided?Community based therapy and psychiatric services, family meetings, basic medical needs, and any other services recommended by teachers, therapists, or the Department of Children and Family.
